How Much Does a Website Cost? A Transparent Pricing Breakdown

How much does a website cost? The honest answer is that it depends — but that does not mean pricing has to be a mystery. After building over 100 websites since 2016, we have developed clear pricing structures we are happy to share openly. Here is what websites actually cost, what drives those costs, and how to make informed decisions about where to invest.

Website pricing by project type

Costs vary widely depending on what you need. Here are realistic price ranges based on our experience in the Czech market:

Website pricing and cost calculation concept
  • Landing page - from 15,000 CZK. A single-page site designed to convert visitors into leads or customers. Ideal for product launches, marketing campaigns, or testing a business idea. Typically delivered in 2–3 weeks.
  • Corporate website - from 35,000 CZK. A multi-page site with about, services, contact, and other standard pages. Includes responsive design, basic SEO, and a content management system. Timeline: 4–6 weeks.
  • E-commerce store - from 60,000 CZK. A full online shop with product catalog, cart, checkout, and payment integration. Built on WooCommerce, Shopify, or a custom solution depending on your needs. Timeline: 6–8 weeks.
  • Custom web application - from 100,000 CZK. A tailored solution with custom functionality - dashboards, user portals, booking systems, integrations with external services. Timeline: 8–12 weeks or more.

These are starting prices. The final cost depends on complexity, design requirements, and the features you need. Every project we take on receives a detailed, fixed-price quote after an initial consultation - no surprises.

What drives the cost

Several factors influence the final price. Understanding them helps you decide where to invest and where to keep it simple.

Design complexity. Template-based design costs less than fully custom work. Custom illustrations, animations, and unique layouts add design hours. For many businesses, a well-executed standard design with appropriate colors and typography works perfectly — bespoke design is not always necessary.

Page count and content types. A five-page corporate site costs less than a twenty-page site with a blog, portfolio, and resource library. Each unique page template requires design and development time. Start with what you need and expand as your business grows.

Functionality and features. Contact forms are simple. Multi-step booking systems with calendar integration, payment processing, and email notifications are complex. The more interactive features your site needs, the higher the development cost. We always recommend prioritizing features that directly serve your business goals.

Content management system. WordPress is a cost-effective choice for sites that need regular content updates. Headless CMS solutions like Strapi or Contentful offer more flexibility but require more development time. Static sites built with modern frameworks like Nuxt or Astro are fastest to load but are best suited for sites where content changes infrequently.

Integrations. Connecting your website to CRM systems, email marketing platforms, payment gateways, or third-party APIs adds development time. Each integration has its own complexity - a simple Mailchimp newsletter signup is quick, while a full ERP integration can be a project in itself.

Multilingual support. If your site needs to serve audiences in multiple languages, the cost increases. Not just for translation, but for the technical infrastructure to manage content across languages, handle URL routing, and implement proper hreflang tags for SEO.

Hidden costs to budget for

The development fee is not the only expense:

  • Domain name - 200–500 CZK per year for a .cz or .com domain. This is your web address and you need to renew it annually.
  • Hosting - 500–5,000 CZK per month depending on traffic, performance requirements, and hosting type. Shared hosting is cheapest. VPS and dedicated servers cost more but offer better performance and security.
  • SSL certificate - free with Let's Encrypt or included with most modern hosting. Essential for security and SEO - every site should have HTTPS.
  • Maintenance and updates - 1,000–5,000 CZK per month. WordPress sites need regular security updates, plugin updates, and backups. Even static sites benefit from periodic performance reviews and content updates.
  • Content creation - copywriting, photography, and video production are often underestimated. Professional photos of your team, products, or workspace make a real difference compared to stock images.

At Kosmoweb, we are transparent about these costs from the start. We include 30 days of post-launch support with every project, and we offer monthly maintenance plans that cover updates, monitoring, and support hours.

How to choose the right approach for your budget

Not every business needs a 200,000 CZK custom website. Here is how to think about your investment:

Client meeting to discuss project budget

Starting out or testing an idea? A well-designed landing page (from 15,000 CZK) can validate your concept, capture leads, and establish your online presence. You can always expand later.

Established business needing a professional presence? A corporate website (from 35,000 CZK) with clean design, clear messaging, and good SEO will serve you well. Focus on a few pages that clearly communicate what you do and why clients should choose you.

Selling products online? An e-commerce store (from 60,000 CZK) needs to be reliable, fast, and easy to use. Do not skimp on the checkout experience - every friction point costs you sales.

Need something unique? A custom web application (from 100,000 CZK) makes sense when off-the-shelf solutions cannot meet your requirements. Consider starting with an MVP (minimum viable product) and iterating based on real user feedback.

Why we use fixed pricing

Many agencies bill by the hour, which creates uncertainty for clients. You never know what the final bill will be until the project is done. At Kosmoweb, we use fixed-price quotes for every project. After our initial consultation, we provide a detailed breakdown of what is included, what it costs, and when it will be delivered.

This approach works because we invest time upfront to understand your requirements thoroughly. We ask the right questions, identify potential complications early, and scope the project accurately. If the scope changes during the project - and it sometimes does - we discuss it openly and agree on any adjustments before proceeding.

You can see our pricing page for general ranges, or contact us for a detailed quote tailored to your specific project.
